Dear Friends,

The Uttar Pradesh Squash Rackets Association would very regretably like to bring to the notice of SRFI & all affiliated State Bodies, our esteemed squash players, admirable sponsors who had kindly consented to come forward and support the event financially, UPSRA President and other local and SRFI officials among others that despite very intensive planning and thorough preperations Kanpur will not be able to host you at this years Senior Nationals – 2011.

In order to accommodate all visiting players especially Our Champions who are the pride of Indian Squash – accommodation was working out to be a huge hurdle. All hotels close to the venue of the competition were almost booked on account of the very auspicious marriage month in Hindu Calendar -Sahlak here in the North.

The alternate dates offered were clashing with either domestic or international calendar and therefore despite mobilizing all resources and making all arrangements including an exhaustive hospitality support that was being extended by the Cawnpore Club left us with no option but to surrender

On a personal note;

• To all the Indian Squash players – We regret this situation arose but we assure you of hosting you in the near future.
• Cawnpore Club Management Committee – I am very regretful and helpless that this fixture could not be hosted as has been expectantly awaited by one and all in your team. My personal thanks to The President , Secretary and particularly to Shri-Sanjeev Mehrotra ,Shri Sharad Gupta ,Shri Amit Agarwal ,Shri Himanshu Shukla .
• UPSRA – Organising & Technical Committee – For the all your work and help which could not bear fruits due to the said situation.
• UPSRA President – For Your admirable support Always Sir. We will try once again and make it a Pride not only for Kanpur but for the state of Uttar Pradesh
• SRFI – Affiliated Units – Regretfully we could not give you a taste of our hospitality. However, we would like to assure you that we shall do the same in the near future soon.
• National Coach – Cyrus Ponch – For your guidance and directions.
• SRFI Secretary General – Mr Srivatsan – for your cooperation and accommodating the Championship at ISA in Chennai
• SRFI Patron – Mr. N Ramachandran  – for your continued patronage.

  I thank you all for your understanding in the matter and look forward to having you over in Kanpur very soon.

Squash is being played for the first time in the history of UP Olympics and that gives the event greater significance is what the Secretary DGBNSRA – Vikas Sharma said while welcoming all outstation and local participants, friends from the media and spectators who had assembled. Thanking Genesis Global School Management for their appreciative gesture in offering world class squash courts for the event he highlighted such initiatives in the district will go a long way in building a wider and stronger squash playing community.

President of the Netball Federation of India Mr. Gurbir Singh who himself is former Olympian was excited to know that this was the first time Squash was being played at UP Games and very delighted that his school could be a part of history by staging such an important event not only in the district but also in UP Olympic History. According to him this was the second time the school was getting associated with the DGBNSRA and in his experience this had already had a positive impact with more kids taking to the sport. Welcoming the participants he wished all of the very best before officially declaring the U.P. State Games for Squash – 2011 Open.

UPSRA Draws Committee has announced the draws for the matches to begin later today. Matches will be best of three games PAR scoring system with semi-finals and finals being played best of 5 games. These can be viewed by clicking on the following link….

UP STATE GAMES – SQUASH DRAW – 2011

All active participating districts have  been informed to send in their best teams to compete for state honours in Mens & Women Open. Medals to all winners and certificate to paraticipants will be give by the Uttar Pradesh Olympic Association – Lucknow. The games gain significance since this year the state Olympic body is sending close to 450 players besides officials for the National Games in Jharkhand. While most of the other events are being played in Lucknow -  Squash event will be staged in Noida.
